Woman blocked from Facebook because her name is ISIS

27 year old Isis Thomas, from Bristol,UK was blocked from logging into her facebook account because of her first name. On Monday, Isis tried to log into her profile only to find Facebook asking her to change her name.

In an interview she said:

“I just tried to log in and when I did, the password went through and this box came up asking me something about changing my name. I was on Facebook as Isis Worcester, because when I first signed up years ago I didn’t use my real name, which is Isis Thomas, because of where I worked at the time. I thought it was about the surname, so I just changed it to Isis Thomas. But that didn’t work and I realised they had a problem with me being called Isis.
“They sent a message saying Isis wasn’t allowed, it didn’t comply with the policy. They asked me to send in proof of identity, which I did. That was on Monday and I haven’t been let on the site since.
“I checked out other times this has happened, and found a woman called Isis who had to start a Twitter campaign because Facebook made her send in ID three times before they finally let her back on.”
Isis’s mum Sian named her after the ancient Egyptian goddess, worshipped as the ideal mother and wife, and the patron of nature and magic.
For most of her life, people commented on Isis’s pretty and unusual name, but things changed upon the rise of the terrorists declaring themselves the Islamic State – commonly abbreviated as ISIS.

 Isis continued :

“Things have definitely changed for me and my name. I used to work in a doctors’ surgery and had my name on a badge. People would comment on it a lot, try to make jokes or tell me it was unfortunate. Some would think it was some kind of company name.
“It frustrates me that people still use ‘Isis’, especially when I see newspaper reports and they’ve written it ‘Isis’ instead of at least using capitals, like ISIS, because it’s an acronym. I have no plans to change my name, though, I love it. I just want Facebook to realise it’s my real name.”
Isis’s mum Sian is furious at Facebook, and said:
“It’s as though she has never existed. I have found Facebook impossible to contact and I’m furious.

'If you know of any drug addicts, go ahead and kill them' Philippines new President declares war on drug cartel

New Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte, who recently declared "a bloody war" on drug cartels, has called on willing Filipinos to "go ahead and kill" drug addicts, amid concerns that "getting their parents to do it would be too painful."

The 71-year-old president, who said during his campaign that some 100,000 criminals would die in his crackdown, their bodies dumped in Manila Bay, has been conspicuously deaf to criticism that he was promoting a culture of death"

After taking his oath inside the Malacanang presidential palace, Duterte continued his defiance and threats against drug traffickers in front of a crowd of some 500 people gathered in a Manila slum Thursday night.

"These sons of whores are destroying our children. I warn you, don't go into that, even if you're a policeman, because I will really kill you," the outspoken Philippines leader told the crowd, AFP reported

If you know of any addicts, go ahead and kill them yourself as getting their parents to do it would be too painful," he added, noting that setting up funeral parlors would help earn some money.

"I assure you [that] you won't go bankrupt. If your business slows I will tell the police, 'Do it faster to help the people earn money.'"

During his speech, Duterte said that some of the major problems Philippines is facing, includes,  "corruption, both in the high and low echelons in government, criminality in the streets and the rampant sale of illegal drugs in all strata of Philippines society and the breakdown of law and order."

He warned that his fight against crime would be "relentless and sustained," pledging that it will remain within the boundaries of the law.

"As a lawyer and former prosecutor, I know the limits of the power and authority of the president. I know what is legal and what is not. My adherence to due process and rule of law is uncompromising," Duterte vowed.

According to Manila Bulletin, local drug lords had they raised the bounty they had put on the president. Over $1 million has now been promised for the assassination of the new leader.

Duterte, however is not deterred as he in turn offered a reward of 5 million pesos ($108,000) for a drug lord "if he is dead," urging the public to join his far-reaching anti-crime fight.

Shocking footage shows youths hurling racial abuse at a man on a tram in Manchester

Shocking video which emerged on Tuesday morning shows three apparently drunk youths shouting hurling racial abuse and shouting at a man to "Get back to Africa' on a tram in Manchester.

According to Manchester Evening News, the man, who spoke with a foreign accent had asked the young men to stop using bad language as they were frightening other passengers.

The youths responded by hurling abuses at the man, telling his to "get back to Africa," Get off the tram now. Bro, I 'll waste you. I 'll waste anyone and Dont chat sh*t when you are not even from England, you little f***king immigrant"

The man, whose nationality was not mentioned, asked how old the youth is, "18,19? I 've been here longer than you".

The youths at one point flick the drink at the man, splashing him and several passengers. They were later chased off the tram, with passengers yelling at them, "You're a disgrace to England".

A woman who was on the tram, who wished to remain anonymous, said: "When I was there I knew it was going to get serious. This kind of incident is really happening. It needs to be noticed we don’t want these kind of incidents happening. The three men got off the tram at Market Street and it stopped there. The women on the tram started crying. It was really horrible. When I was walking back to my work I was crying all the way. I couldn’t control myself. I was feeling sad, I now feel scared coming to work. They were three boys, they weren’t very old. I am scared of travelling on my own, I feel scared for my children that it is not safe, I will not take them on the tram."

Chief Inspector Gareth Parkin of Greater Manchester Police City said: "This is a disgusting display of abuse which quite frankly has no place in society. All hate incidents are treated with the utmost severity and this behaviour will not be tolerated in Greater Manchester."
