About 400 Tanzanians in custody abroad for drugs trafficking.


Tanzanian government said about 408 Tanzanians are in custody abroad and others face the death penalty after drug trafficking.

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Augustine Mahiga said that while presenting estimates of his ministry's budget for the financial year 2016/17.

Referring Tanzanians arrested for drugs Mahiga said faced with such sentences in prisons around the world after being convicted and found guilty of drugs trafficking.

Mr. Mahiga mentioned a number of them and the countries in which they held, Brazil (41), China (266), Iran (68), India (9), Nepal (4), Oman (3), Thailand (14) and the United Arab Emirates (3).
